Attempting (and failing) to register to vote

Well… I tried.  I still think there is a way to vote in the Federal election without being registered for the state one.

My state — Virginia — is still way behind the times in terms of privacy.  Although they finally took the SSN off driver’s licenses — they require SSN’s on the voter registration application. 

They claim that the information will remain private — I know that is not the case.  At one time I was volunteered to make survey phone calls for a PAC — and we had copies of the voter rolls (is that the correct term?)  Including name, phone number, SSN, address, etc. 

I do not intend to provide my SSN to such a “public” forum!  Yikes!!  Virginia needs to protect its citizens’ privacy rights!
